Our Story
Rev. Sr. H.A. Elizabeth, a dedicated member of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, has devoted 25 years of her life in serving people in various locations such as India, Italy, and South America. In 1999, she fell seriously ill and experienced complete paralysis on her left side until 2004. However, by the grace of God, she received a miraculous healing and regained full health.
In 2007, she took the initiative to establish the 'Mother of Mercy Charitable Trust with the aim of addressing the negative aspects prevalent in the world. The primary focus of the trust is to support the poor, the downtrodden, and especially orphanages through prayer and the resources received from the Lord. Their mission is carried out in the spirit of Christ's love, transcending man-made boundaries in order to serve those in need.
The Trust operates as a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) and is dedicated to the development of girl children nationwide. Since its inception, the trust has been dedicated to empowering children who are born into challenging circumstances. Many of these children come from desperate situations, such as being orphaned or having single parents, often with alcoholic fathers and troubled home environments, which greatly diminishes their prospects for a bright future. However, at the Mother of Mercy Charitable Trust, these children receive education, food, shelter, love, care, and guidance, aiming to provide them with a happy life.
The organization believes in addressing the root causes of these issues. Not only do they provide an enabling environment for the children, but they also offer family counseling to create a safe space for them within their homes through family strengthening and economic empowerment. Their ultimate goal is to ensure that every child is happy, healthy, and loved.
Currently, the Trust is undertaking the construction of an orphanage home to accommodate as many children as possible, thus expanding its capacity to serve those in need.
